Microsoft Windows beside the MacOS on Macintosh systems

Recent Macintosh systems are based on Intel chips and it seems can be a platform for Microsoft Windows.

The fact is the Macintosh is different from PC still! The file system is used for Macintosh is not compatible with Windows systems. Although it is a big issue but there is another difference that already is more important.

The Macintosh systems are using EFI for guiding system for booting up while the PCs using BIOS+MBR combination and Windows has design to boot with this way; Then we need a little bit help from Apple Company.

Thanks to Apple! There are two special applications for this reason, you should choose you want execute Windows as an application inside MacOS or you want it as a separate OS when your system boots up.

No, there is not third option, if you want Windows without MacOS there is no more help from apple!

- Parallel

With this application you are able to install Windows as a virtual system inside the MacOS.

- BootCamp

With this application you can make a separate partition for your Windows and then install Windows on it like as a PC but during installation you should be careful to don’t touch MacOS related partitions!

In the rest of this article I will discuss the process of installing each one as well as benefits of them.

Parallel

First you should download this application and install it on your system.

Then you can install several OS including WindowsXP and Vista.

But what about the process!

After installing the parallel application you should run it.

In the opening window you are able for opening any current parallel OS or making a new one.

If you choose new, then there is some categories you should select from them and help MacOS be more clever about it.

Choose Your Windows Version and go to next step.

Now you should put the installation CD and install your Windows like installing on a real pc. After finishing it, it's better to install the parallel tools from the main menu because by doing this it will be just as another application that you can switch to it or back to other software so easy.

BootCamp

First you should download this application and install it on your system.

Then after executing it, for more security it will ask you twice the administration credentials.

It will ask you about writing a driver CD for your system , accept and put an empty CD inside and go to next step.

Then it will ask you about partitioning the hard disk.

You should choose how many percent of the capacity should be assigned to Windows and how much capacity for MacOS.

After finishing this part , it is time to install the Windows , it will ask you to put the Windows installation, if you do it and it ask you again it means that it can not detect it well, no problem, just quit the quit it and restart your system and boot from cdrom.

Nothing more , now you should install it as you install on any other pcs but be carefull when you should choose a partition for installing the Windows, should choose drive C:

There are some other partitions also that you should not touch them, otherwise you may miss your MacOS or also your Windows!

This is good for he people that they don't want switch back to MacOS during work, then all the system resources are assigned to Windows while in the parallel spluthion they are shared by MacOS.
